Banjo on the Island | About 1

Aaron Stiff was born and raised in southern Ontario. After being taught rudimentary piano for several years, he began learning how to play the banjo at age 11. He was taught banjo by Canadian performer/songwriter/recording artist JK Gulley, where he developed skills of performance, improvisation, and composition.

Over the years he has grown to appreciate and enjoy bluegrass music. Some of his influences include Earl Scruggs, Tony Trishka, Janet Davis, Bill Keith, and Scott Vestal.

Aaron and his family have performed across Ontario and Prince Edward Island in a bluegrass gospel band, and were featured on a CBC Radio. Aaron has recorded the band’s last 3 CDs.

In addition to music, Aaron enjoys recreational mathematics, computer programming, and a handful of other hobbies such as sign language and yoyoing!

He and his family moved to Prince Edward Island in the summer of 2019 and bought a hobby farm. They are enjoying life on the island and are excited to develop their homestead.
